A Daily Mile Track with Additional Physical Challenges
Our Sales Director, Paul Bayliss, worked with Carr Green Primary School to create an outdoor environment that would encourage children to become physically active and lead a healthier lifestyle.
Childhood obesity is on the rise in the UK and the school wanted to ensure it was fully equipped to tackle this nationwide epidemic.
We decided to create a Daily Mile Track alongside a Fitness and Assault Course to encourage children to complete their mile a day while overcoming challenging obstacles on the way.
The Daily Mile is a fantastic initiative which aims to improve children's physical, social and mental health regardless of age, ability or personal circumstances.
Our Daily Mile track winds through the school field and includes physical play items at different points along the way. While either running or walkng their daily mile, children have the opportunity to test their physical abilities on the different obstacles.
Each obstacle targets a different area of physical development which includes upper and lower body strength, core stability, balance, coordination and fine and gross motor skills.
The track enables teachers to set the children targets and objectives to reach throughout the school year. It also offers a competitive edge as children can set completion times for other children to beat.
Children will love to beat their previous times and challenge friends to try and beat it.
This development will also see improvements inside the classroom including sustained concentration and improved behavior. Being outside in the fresh air helps improve positive behavior and wellbeing amongst children.
The school should also start to see a wider participation in Sport and more enthusiasm during PE lessons.
A daily mile will also meet the new UK government requirements where they recommend that children should be actively moving for 30 minutes each day.

We also created Fitness Points which were signs that give children instructions on different workouts and stretches for them to complete.
The track can be accessed in all weathers ensuring children's daily mile and physical development never gets disrupted.
