Take your children on a sensory journey with our exhilarating Sensory Tunnel, whilst encouraging mindfulness in the playground. Providing stimulation for all 7 senses, children journey through the eight-meter-long space, experiencing everything it has to offer. Designed to be fully inclusive for all children, of all abilities, the wonderful tunnel is wide enough for carers, teachers and other staff to accompany children, in addition to those using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. Featuring polycarbonate panels that enables natural light to pass through and create different streams of illumination inside, a colourful enchanting place is created. Encouraging communication and language development, children become inquisitive about their surroundings. Halfway through the tunnel, a mirror replaces a small section of the polycarbonate panels to encourage self-awareness as children observe themselves and point out key features: improving their understanding of the world and self-confidence. Planters situated at either end of the Sensory Tunnel promote independence, scientific learning and understanding of the world development as children help plant seeds and watch them grow. Herbs, lavender and other tasty, smelly plants contribute towards stimulating smell and taste senses. Uniquely, dappled light is created as spotted light shines through specifically made holes in the timber framework of the tunnel, providing additional visual stimulation and provoking questions and observation. Alternatively, they can also be used for den making as children use blankets stretched across the inside of the tunnel to create a calming, breakout space.
