An Exciting Playground Development at Beautiful Bowland Fell Holiday Park
Bowland Fell Holiday Park in Skipton is an idyllic location in Yorkshire close to the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District. Luxury lodges and caravans are nestled amongst vast rolling countryside. Visitors to the park have access to 130 acres of the great outdoors where walking, cycling or wildlife spotting can be enjoyed.
Bowland Fell Holiday Park is situated next to the Forest of Bowland with its many beautiful walking and cycling routes.
The site is home to the recently refurbished 17th-century Crowtrees Inn pub and restaurant. Pentagon Play was delighted to be asked to provide a natural, exciting campground playground to replace outdated equipment as part of the refurbishment.
We were very pleased with the end result of this project and hope children staying at the site will have plenty of active fun year after year.
The Bowland Fell Tower
We knew this unique site needed its very own play tower that would reflect the natural beauty of Bowland therefore we created the bespoke Bowland Fell Tower. We decided to construct the tower using timber and wood effect panels that add to the natural feel of the site.
A decked platform connects different challenges where children can enter and exit the tower from different points. Through fun, active play children will develop strength, coordination, core stability and fine motor skills.
The tower is large enough to accommodate numerous families and provides a perfect social hub for new friendships to form. Children will enjoy taking on the different climbing challenges whether it be on the wall, net or ramp. Guests will face new challenges and show improvement over the course of their stay.
Imaginations will be ignited and new family games created as children exit the tower choosing between the slide or fireman’s pole. The space underneath the tower can also be fully utilised as children create dens and spaces linked to their role-play and stories.
Safermats have been installed in the area surrounding the tower to minimise accidents whilst allowing children to take some risks in a safe environment. Safermats don’t spoil the aesthetic of the play park equipment as grass is able to grow through them.
The Pinnacle Hill Climber
Ideally suited for younger children this fantastic climbing frame helps to build climbing confidence.
Children will find different ways of traversing around the climber, using the ropes to support balance and develop grip strength. Possibilities are endless when exploring this piece and children will certainly build upper and lower body strength.
Take Turns on the Terrific Trim Trail
The final active piece consists of different obstacles to create a challenging trail which involves teamwork and problem-solving.
A Horizontal Swinging Log Crossing starts the trail. The kinetic element of this piece promotes brain development, children must carefully consider their footwork and learn how to regain control.
Strength and balance are needed to cross the Wobbly Log Traverse before heading to a Platform-to-Platform Tightrope Crossing.
Children can imagine that they are circus performers as they discover the best method to carefully cross the rope. There is plenty of room for children once they reach the platforms and artificial grass surfacing provides a non-slip, all-weather surfacing.
A Set of 5 Stepping Logs are placed around the trail to allow children to complete the course without stepping down. Each log is set at a different height to strengthen leg muscles and build physical confidence.
We hope that many families enjoy Bowland Fell Holiday Park this summer and that children are able to engage in active, adventurous play using the pub playground equipment in this breathtaking part of the country.
