Having over 200 children attend this primary school, Winwick CE Primary School has received praise from Ofsted regarding how the core values of the school are seamlessly integrated within the school and the national curriculum. Not only does Ofsted praise this school, but nearly every parent has something great to say about Winwick CE Primary School.
Recently, the school decided to review their current position and how they could improve the experience of school for the average pupil. From this, it was decided that the primary school needed to review their current play equipment and think about what they wanted the school playground to provide their children.
Meeting The Customer
Alex Platt, a reception teacher and PE Leader, first came across Pentagon Play in May 2024 when she was looking for unique and innovative play equipment. From this search, she stumbled across our Online Shop and browsed through the fantastic range of active play equipment we offer.

Their Objectives
After seeing our most popular products on the Online Shop, Alex spoke to Hayley O'Brien (Senior Business Manager of Winwick CE Primary School) about placing an order with us.

Sports Premium Discoverer Package
Combining two of our most popular freestanding play equipment sets (the Get Set, Go! Blocks - The Cheviot Set & the Play Builder Engineer Set), the Sports Premium Discoverer Package is the perfect solution for schools who want to create an active play space whilst saving thousands in the process.
The Sports Premium Discoverer Package offers a great discount on play equipment that can be purchased with your PE and Sports Premium (hence the name)! Hayley loved how economically viable this package was as it allowed the school to get the most from their premium.
Both of the sets included in this package can be used separately, but our innovative product designers have made it possible to combine both of the sets into one big set. This allows for imaginative and engaging obstacle courses to be created with ease, providing children with a variety of challenges that promote physical development.
As Alex wanted to cover two areas of the playground (the Reception play area and the KS1 sensory area), they decided to use the two sets separately to cover more space. By doing this, the school was able to provide more active play provisions for their students, whilst still maintaining the set areas.
Another feature that the primary school loved was the guarantees associated with the Sports Premium Discoverer Package. The Accoya Wood that is used to create the wooden planks within the Play Builder Set has a 25-year guarantee, meaning the school didn't have to worry about the equipment rotting and snapping.
One of the key factors that a lot of schools love about this package is how easily it can be moved around and altered to suit the needs of the children. Schools can easily increase/decrease the difficulty of their created obstacle course by simply adding or removing elements. Winwick CE primary loved this aspect of the play equipment as it would assist in the physical development of their children.
The Results
After a month had passed, we contacted the school and asked if we would be able to visit them to see the imapct the new play equipment was having. The school was more than happier for us to visit and even offered us the chance to interview the staff and children!
Being only 40 minutes away from us, we were delighted that a local school decided to use a local business for this job. The community is always at the heart of Pentagon Play and it really made our day to see a school share the same values as us.
Once we arrived, we had the opportunity to speak with Alex Platt and to get the insight of how the play equipment was revolutionising the way Winwick CE Primary School was approaching the topic of active play.
The PE Lead told us how the play equipment was well-received throughout the school, with pupils loving the exciting obstacle courses that were being presented to them and how the teachers were impressed by the durability and how light weight the equipment was.
As we looked at the KS1 Sensory Play Area, Alex told us how the equipment has been great for SEN children in the school, as the Get Set, Go! Blocks provide an amazing sensory experience due to the artificial grass layered on top of each block. In addition, the SEN children could manoeuvre the blocks with ease and express themselves in a way that was never seen before.
It's safe to say that the Sports Premium Explorer Package has made a positive impact on the lives of the children who attend this primary school. We genuinely hope that Winwick Primary continues to provide children with a fantastic education and that their new play equipment continues to provide fun and engaging activities for generations to come!
