The Customer
After a transition period and a change of leadership, Burtonwood Community Primary School are moving forward with new priorities and a dedication to the curriculum.
This movement also included creating a new engaging and exciting learning through play space for their pupils.
The Objectives
With a designated space for their Early Years Space, Burtonwood Community wanted to update their environment with more modern and inviting equipment which will support classroom learning through play.
Outdoor Learning Consultant, Tom Hollingworth, worked closely with the team to design and develop a new space.
Our Approach
One of the first steps was to install Artificial Grass and Wetpour throughout the existing Early Years Area.
The surface includes a Beige and Eggshell trackway/path, Brown Wetpour Area going around the Harter Fell with Platform and Slide and a Blue Wetpour Splash around the new Water Wall.
The remaining area will be covered in artificial grass. This will give the area a natural look and feel whilst being all-weather.
This gives a great base for all of the equipment.
It was also key for Tom to include a brand-new sheltered space for an easy transition between indoor and outdoor learning. With this, he added a Freestanding Canopy.
The Results
Burtonwood is now home to a full-scale EYFS development.
The space includes plenty of seating for pupils with a Picnic Table and six Artificial Grass Topped Seats.
Pupils can also discover their musical side with Drum Seats and Freestanding Chimes.
Whether looking to build their imagination, or their gross motor skills, there are plenty of play choices for pupils with Get Set, Go! Blocks- The Cheviot Set, and our Giant Playhouse.
There are also plenty of storage options available with a Large and Medium Self-Selecting Store, Coat Rack and Welly Rack.
