A huge MUGA Pitch and Outdoor Classroom
Our Director, Michael Bischof, worked with Werneth Primary School to create a visually engaging MUGA Pitch for ‘multi-use’ sports.
Before our development, the school had an old concrete space for both football and netball which included very old goal ends and netball posts.
There would be minor injuries and scrapped knees from playing sports within the concrete area. It also get badly affected by the weather which created an unsafe environment.
We needed to bring the space back to life with an inspiring makeover for sport and physical activity.
With 960msq to work with, we created a bright and colourful MUGA Pitch that can be used for either full sized netball matches or two games of small sided football.
To create this visually stunning pitch, we installed our red and blue Multi-Sport Playing Surface. This excellent surfacing can be accessed in all weathers and will protect the children from falls.
One half the pitch is red while the other half is blue to give each opposing team their own distinct colour.
The multi-use pitch also includes markings for football and netball as well as fence mounted Goal Targets for practice and foot-eye and hand-eye coordination.
We completed the space with an artificial grass viewing mound. Children can now sit on the mound and relax while watching their friends play sport. It’s also perfect for practicing roly-polies!
Behind the safety of a 3m high mesh fence are 2 practice cricket wicket nets and a basketball area.
The children now have quality facilities for football, netball, basketball and cricket.
Michael interviewed the children to see if the children’s new multi sports area had revolutionised play time.
The children reported they can now play more safely, there are less accidents and they have a wider variety of sporting options to participate in.
They loved the artificial grass bank and enjoyed rolling down the soft grass! The School Council are very keen on developing the next stage of their plans – a full size Olympic swimming pool with slides.

Our Gable End Outdoor Classroom For Key Stage 2
The outdoor classroom is 12m x 5m and can accommodate two classes of children.
It is partially enclosed and includes a Whiteboard and flexible seating options.
The attractive gable roof is waterproof and provides useful shelter for outdoor lessons and parents during collection time.
The children were very pleased with the outdoor classroom and enjoyed taking lessons away from the formal classroom environment. They also found it to be a useful place for socialising with friends during break time.
